The Rug Company’s Complementary Colour Collaboration

The Rug Company’s latest collaboration sees a new curated “Complementary Colour Collection” with Farrow & Ball.

Handloom rugs are skillfully crafted by The Rug Company’s team of expert weavers in Nepal,  and available in three different textures – plain Tibetan wool, cut and loop stripe and wool with a silk border .

A collection of 12 rugs offers one accent and one neutral colourway for the six Farrow & Ball neutral groups.

Traditional Neutrals

Holland Stone — a warm and sophisticated neutral inspired by the Georgian townhouses surrounding The Rug Company’s home in Holland Park, London.

Lots Blue — a soothing tone evoking the sea and the sky, adding a hint of colour to any interior. Named after Lots Road, the location of The Rug Company’s very first showroom.

Yellow Based Neutrals

Clarendon — the warmest of all the neutrals, this classic beige creates a cosy atmosphere in homes both old and new, enhancing south facing light or bringing warmth to cooler rooms.

Keepers Red — a deep and welcoming red named after Keepers Cottage, a cosy redbrick close to the home of Farrow & Ball in Dorset. It is an enduring and versatile shade.

Red Based Neutrals

Princedale Pale — the lightest of all the neutrals which is perfectly suited to contemporary classic interiors. Try: layering with other textures of similar tone, be it leather, linen or stone.

Kent Green — an uplifting hue that works well in both modern and more traditional interiors. Its name evokes the leafy Garden of England, while nodding to our longstanding head of production, Caroline Kent.

Contemporary Neutrals

Sam’s Stone — this clean, natural tone takes its name from The Rug Company’s longest standing member of staff and adds a contemporary twist to each room of the home.

Portland Pink — this restful pink, with its subtle blush tone, effortlessly adds colour without stealing the show. It is inspired by an elegantly painted pink villa on Portland Road, London.

Easy Neutrals

Order Grey — a smart and even grey that is incredibly easy to live with. This fresh feeling colourway is inspired by the military grey wool greatcoats of the Household Guards.

Melrose Yellow — evoking the sunny climes of Los Angeles, this vibrant chartreuse creates an optimistic colour statement which works particularly well with coordinating Order Grey.

Architectural Neutrals

Wizlet — a cool and light grey which is perfect for creating a thoroughly modern feel in the home for devotees of a minimalist aesthetic. Elegant and simple.

Wooster — inspired by the ironwork facades of Wooster Street in New York’s Soho district, the downtown home of The Rug Company. A strong, cool tone with its roots in dark blue.

The Complementary Colour Collection is handmade in the same Nepalese weaving houses as its handknotted collection, using the same luxurious materials, but the use of a shuttle means the rugs are made to a shorter lead time and at an enticing price point.

Prices start at R24 877 (1.83 x 1.22m)

Stock is available from The Rug Company showrooms and available to view in Farrow & Ball showrooms worldwide.
