This winter, Chef Armstrong has been inspired by comfort food and dishes that are synonymous with the warm waters around the Mediterranean – Spain, Morocco, Italy, the South of France, Greece, Turkey and the Middle East.
The Chef’s Selection, priced at R420 for a five-course lunch menu
R580 for a seven-course dinner menu, is designed for two people.
With a focus on social sharing dishes are fresh, simple and bursting with vibrant colour, texture and palate-pleasing flavours, vibrant enough to forget the grey skies seen out the restaurant’s wall of windows.
Expect to start with more-ish falafel or turmeric cauliflower with artichokes, sultanas, moghrabieh (Israeli couscous); followed by Fishmonger’s choice with chermoula (Algerian pesto), smoked confit tomatoes and chickpeas; or lamb shank with couscous and spiced bean stew.
For something sweet, try the Lebanese milk pudding with rosewater and sesame dentelle, or the ivory chocolate and halva parfait.
“The dishes will change depending on the availability of the ingredients, or the whim of the Chef,” Armstrong adds with a smile.
