Glenfiddich’s new luxury Braamfontein Bar

Glenfiddich's new luxury Braamfontein Bar 8

True to the brand’s pioneering spirit, Glenfiddich is creating a premium whisky experience using biometric technology in a way that has never been done before.

As the Maverick whisky makers of Dufftown, who are constantly driving innovation, Glenfiddich is inviting South Africans to be a part of another game-changing concept.

Glenfiddich Independent Bar will be open from 06 April 2017, Thursday – Saturday until the end of June and space is limited to only 50 guests each night.

The Independent Bar is a by invite-only premium experience available to those who have signed up to enjoy exclusive brand offerings on https://www.glenfiddich.com/za/independent-bar.

By asking guests to speak into a special audio device, their voice is captured onto a system whereby the data is used to create a flavour profile and serve unique to that person.

A bar like no other, the Independent Bar further engages the senses with opulent design and an impressive display of interior creativity.

The 3-dimensional space ignites the imagination while telling a story of rich history and modern innovation, elegantly presented with copper, stone and brass.

Aparna Ramana from Design Republic describes the interior as one that could beautifully reflect the innovation of the brand’s spirit while making it desirable to the young change-making whisky drinkers of South Africa.

To achieve the sophistication and originality required for this trendy once-off concept, Glenfiddich and Design Republic partnered with like-minded maverick, Trevor Stuurman, a South African visual artist, creative director, photographer, film-maker and stylist.

“Trevor is such a talented individual and has a wonderful eye. He is open to ideas, but at the same time gently assertive about what fits or doesn’t. We’ve been playing around with how sartorial sensibilities play a role in interiors,”

says Ramana.
