Leeu Estate Launches in Franschhoek

Leeu Estates Launches in Franschhoek 9

From the overheard whispers and small town gossip sessions in the local Franschhoek cafes and espresso bars. Mr Analjit Singh is a well known, spoken about and for so many in the Hospitality industry, a respected (soft spoken) gentleman and conservationist.

What was fear from so many Franschhoek locals that yet another business mogul was investing in their small village to create luxurious, unrivalled escapes. What was to become of their beloved hometown and quaint country escape for others? A very sensitive topic for any entity investing and hoping to develop in small yet emerging towns, Franschhoek especially.

Alas there was nothing to fear, Leeu Collection founder Analjit Singh has shown integrity to the history of a French Huguenot village which they swooped into just a few years ago to cement their relationship with the village Mr Singh fell for back in 2010.

The group not only acquisitioned the famed Le Quartier Francais, but has crafted a brewery on the high street and have up cycled the once Rusthof country huis into a proud manor house venue moments away from the monument, donned with bronze lions at its entrance Leeu House is aptly named and graded five star.

The pièce de résistance however has been how Leeu Collection and it’s team of creatives would evolve three tired Franschhoek farms into a famed and awaited estate.

The team of professionals behind the architecture, interiors and gardens at Leeu Estate includes Spanish architect Tomeu Esteva, Graham Goosen and Johan Malherbe, interior designer Beverley Boswell and landscape designer Franschesca Watson.

With a spa, library, over 200 immaculate art pieces, sculpture garden, Bokkie garden and we haven’t got to the accommodation. It’s no wonder that the flag ship Leeu Estates has left tongues wagging and cameras snapping.

Finally, Leeu Estate has opened!

At the centre of this now working wine farm is the meticulously refurbished 19th-century Manor House offering superb comfort, fine dining and a promise of platinum service.

The contemporary classic, individually styled rooms and suites are filled with customised architectural detailing and tactile textures in a calm colour scheme. Each one features carefully curated artwork and sculptures from various countries, luxurious extras and superbly equipped marble bathrooms.

Many have their own terraces and fireplaces, and all enjoy idyllic vineyard and mountain views.

Leeu Estate has remained true to the pillars of the brand, namely inspiring art collections, unique architecture and sophisticated design; manicured and detailed landscaping which reflects respect for the environment

Definitely a property that is attracting the more discerning and luxurious traveler, I have seen rates start from R7500.00 per evening and includes the mini bar of local beverages, a shuttle to Leeu House and breakfast.

Whilst I won’t be able to afford that pretty price tag in the coming weeks, the spa and wine studio which offers guests handcrafted premium wines from the award-winning Mullineux & Leeu Family Wine will be opened to the public.

Staying true to the omage “fake it ‘till you make” you’ll soon be seeing lots more snaps of me quaffing between the mountainside and river with spectacular views of the Franschhoek valley, on 68 hectares of vineyards, landscaped gardens and fynbos. Chin chin, Darling!
