Look Inside: Liam Mooneys Haute new Studio

77 Hout Street, Cape Town is the home to Liam Mooney’s Bespoke Furniture & Design studio.

Clients of Liam’s include Superette, the beautifully revamped La Mouette Restaurant and most recently BOSJES (Die Skuur) Guest House in the Breedekloof that we had the privilege of staying at earlier this year

No stranger to the industry Liam Mooney has collaborated with other local tastemakers such as Nicholas Coutts, known for his weaved and woven wonders and “celebrity” ceramists to the chefs Mr Merwyn Gers.

There’s a organic instillation that hangs in the light draped store by one of our favorite local floral friends, known as Blom Boy the piece is meticulously hand crafted by Alwijn Burger.

The atelier by Liam consists of custom of furniture, from upholstered sofas and dining chairs to solid timber pieces such as sideboards and coffee tables, which will be commissionable and made to order.

The vintage section will feature sourced and auctioned furniture.

Artwork will feature extremely local considering the stones throw location of the artwork, making use of WHATIFTHEWORLD gallery which has seen WITW artists exhibit in major exhibitions and biennials including the 55th Venice Biennial; The Havana Biennial; Guangzhou Triennial Guangzhou, China; Le Biennial de Dakar, Senegal as well as group exhibitions hosted at prestigious venues such at the Center Georges Pompidou, Paris; The Smithsonian Museum, Washington DC; SFMOMA San Francisco and MOMA, New York.
