Artisan Spirit Distillery and a Capetonian love for Craft Gins

The name says it all, Pienaar & Son is a small craft distillery in the center of the Cape Town City Bowl run by a father and son team both of which have backgrounds in Chemistry.

Andre Pienaar (son) studied a BSc degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry and his Father is a master mind when it comes to designing distillation equipment and is also, a qualified chemical Engineer.

A stones throw from Parliament, at the end of a cul-de-sac this tiny distillery goes about its business finding fresh ways of creating and introducing people to quality, modern spirits.

Although they more than appreciate traditional methods and the history of distillation, the adage that ‘older is better’ could not be further from our opinionated truth.

This blanc industrial-esque space includes open plan access to the distilling process, exposed raw wood & structural beam and on of course trend foliage to boot.

Be sure to say hello to the sweet lab named Bear too, he can be found laying around the store on most days.
