Pierre had visited Cape Town with the intention of looking to move here and open a vegan eatery. As a vegan himself, he had visited Plant Café and when he heard of its closure, he saw an opportunity to invest, re-open the popular café and make the move to the Mother City permanently. And that’s exactly what he did. He now co-owns and runs Plant with business partner Adien V Aggenbach.”

PLANT cafe in Buiten Street Cape Town, closes as owner struggles to run Plant and Juggle a full time Job.

Adien V Aggenbach of PLANT cafe told Veggie Bunch this about opening PLANT Cafe.

After I relocated back to South Africa from Los Angeles there were really limited vegan options in Cape Town. We had Bella Vegan in Muizenberg and Bolo Bolo in Obs but there was no dedicated vegan kitchen serving Cape Town CBD. The objective is to make vegan food more accessible and educate people that vegan food doesn’t have to be boring or difficult to make

Dear Cape Town,

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the closure of Plant.

Plant has been my passion and an avenue for education about plant based eating and we have shared many magical moments together.

Ultimately, running a restaurant while juggling a full time job has become too much.

My commitment to spreading the message of compassion, education and speaking up for those that can not speak for themselves still stands.

I am going to take some much needed time to regroup, re-energise and then identify a different avenue where we can utilize our experience to make this world a better place.

Thank you for your support and the many fun times we shared at Plant!

Our amazing staff will be looking for work. Please let me know of any openings at restaurants or other opportunities.
