A Quick Staycation in Durban | Quarters Hotel

A Quick Staycation in Durban | Quarters Hotel 9

There’s nothing better than visiting home and when it means going home to a city than doesn’t know the meaning of “Winter” what could be better!?

Quarters Hotel is on the bustling, restaurant laden street of Florida Road in Morningside-Durban. The property consists of four bespoke homes that were to be conservatively combined to form the Quarters Boutique Brand.

Having recently undergone a soft revamp it is easy to see why the Quarters Hotel is both the chosen destination of suave business folk and travelling tourists.

The rooms vary in size and slight decor elements. Some rooms are larger and are listed as Superior rooms, with a small seating area and desk as well as a bath and standing shower facility.

The Forth House at Quarters Hotel is the nicest “House” to book into with the largest “suite” style offering being in this part of the building and offers a quieter rest as it is further from the High Street.

What’s nicer about the rooms closest to the high street are the picturesque views of the stunning architectural lines of the stadium used during the Fifa world cup in 2010 and on a clear summer’s day (which is practically 359 days of the year) you are able to see touches of the seaside.

The famous Golden Mile beach walk along the Indian Ocean being no more than a 20 minute walk of quick 5 minute Uber/transfer-which the hotel happily assists with arranging.

All the houses host smaller meeting, reading style lounge areas except for the reception area which is home to Atelier by Fashion Nanny Sabrina Maingard.

A style saturated studio that offers an array of ladies fashion items.

Think shoes by our Kloof Street Italian-Aliverti and a few fashions by local Durban design alumni.

Breakfast , at Quarters Cafe, is included in the rate and consists of a hot to order (Ala carte) breakfast with Eggs Benedict being their signature offering, the continental is typical but expansive. Cereals, yoghurt and a selection of tropical fruits and good quality jams from Hillcrest, a berry orchard not far from Franschhoek in a small town called Pneil.

As you may know I am not one for breakfasts in Hotels so meandering the streets and heading to a quirky cafe called Freedom Cafe just a stone’s throw away is often my go to breakfast spot, great outdoors area under the tree!

Making Quarters the perfect base whilst in Durban, after all Location, Location, Location!

Love, Love, Love this! I actually spend A LOT of time in Florida road at the backpackers in 9th Avenue.
I also used to work for the Quarters Hotel across the road for a few years. I love the new look, its brilliant, clean, classy, elegant and pays homage to a distinct style.

I cant wait to check in and spend a weekend staycation here! Love the article!
Come and check out some of my reviews on my site! So glad to have found yours!
Although I do believe Durban has FOUND Winter this week, its pouring torrential rain as I type and the mountains in KZN are covered in Snow 🙂 The best weather to stay in a cozy boutique hotel with hot chocolate or gluwein 🙂

Cant wait to read more from you 🙂
