I recently (re)discovered the picturesque farm of Babylonstoren, just off the R45 heading to Franschhoek and their conservatory styled tasting room.
Below are a few images of my walk through this beautiful garden on route to their Greenhouse-tea and light lunch venue.
There are various gardens and so many different paths to take. From a river walk with a secret swing to a cycad collection and turkeys too. One could get lost in time with the amount of sights to see and adventures to choose.
They say you should have a cheat meal not a cheat day but is it really cheating if it’s gluten-free?
I had the most decadent brownie and a perfectly made flat white. Service was great and staff efficient and friendly. Perfect space to spend on a Sunday. Almost procrastinating with loved ones and friends that the next day-is well, Monday-a day we mostly dread.
Kid & Family Friendly
There were families and kids evrywhere(which is either a good or bad thing for you) so if you’re looking for a family venue, the kids i saw LOVED foraging for feathers, running in the vines playing hide-and-go-seek and just being, kids! Very cute!
Babylonstoren Soaps & More
If you’re looking for great farm products, artisanal goodies and some excellent local pottery. There’s a great Farm Shop toward the exit/entrance with just what you’re looking for.
There are hand-made soaps and fragrances much like the preserves that are all made using local (grown on the farm,) produce.
You’ll also also find a wide selection of things, like jams, cordials, preserves, and their latest addition – olive oil. There’s also a Babel Cookbook and various memorabilia.
So many little gifts for those special people and days like Mother’s day coming up soon!
