Having previously worked her magic on notable Western Cape eateries such as The Taproom, De Warenmark as well as the Harbour House collection of restaurants, Fitzgerald’s hallmark style is showcased to full effect in this distinctive space.
Utilizing a mix of materials to craft a contemporary setting that expresses the dynamic cosmopolitan energy of its surroundings, the concept that drove Fitzgerald’s design process for Bar Baric was to create a sense of warmth and welcome, albeit with a sense of elegant refinement.
Opulent chandeliers preside over a marble topped bar; smoky antique glass and black and white checkerboard flooring invite old world glamour into the venue, whilst crisply offset by exposed industrial features and a subtly staged lighting strategy that all contribute to the casual sophistication of the space.
With plenty of seating at the bar, along with additional seating indoors and outdoors (when favourable weather conditions allow) visitors are presented with ample opportunity to linger over a drink, whether with friends or alone.
The ideal spot to start an evening out with pre-dinner drinks or a stop-off for a night cap on the way home, Bar Baric will also offer a selection of wood-fired pizzas and tapas served from the Doppio Zero kitchen – all prepared in the fresh, artisanal style that has made Doppio Zero a firm favourite for many since first opening in 2002.
