When popping into Boschendal you can now pick up everything from your weekly groceries and farm-fresh produce to interior gifts sourced from independent local designers.
My favorite and the newest addition to the Boschendal Deli offering is their new homeware section. Think, Bespoke collections such as Botega’s ceramic range in black made exclusively for and available only at Boschendal as well as curated crafts from Wonki Ware and Storm in a Teacup.
Handmade linens from Barrydale Weavers have been designed and constructed exclusively for Boschendal in the Klein Karoo, along with further exclusive colourways from Angela Swain and Chile Co.
Alongside the talent of local artisans, the farm shop will showcase the diverse range of expertise within their own 1,800 hectares. Wooden boards will be handmade on the farm from offcuts of South African oak and olive wood and available to purchase – they offer the perfect foundation for Boschendal’s exquisite bakery goodies baked daily.
The Boschendal Foodlab has been particularly busy developing a collection of treats and luxury larder items that celebrate the seasonal tastes of the farm; a whole range of new condiments and preserves – such as the divine guava jam – accompany sweet treats like the farm lavender shortbread.
Ready-made meals are available to take away with a full range of Boschendal wines, grown and bottled utilising almost 300 years’ winemaking heritage.
A staple in the deli was always the farm’s own produce; farm eggs and black Angus beef which are both free to graze and roam where they wish while fertilising the soil as they move.
Pork produce comes from the estate’s Duroc pigs who roam the forest floor foraging for roots and acorns, eliminating alien vegetation. When you’ve thought you’ve bought all you need, pop some fresh-cut and preserved flowers will add vibrant colour to bring Springtime memories from Franschhoek into your home.
