KAMERS/Makers Goes Green with Bluewater

KAMERS/Makers is SA’s favourite handcraft and design show – a six-day celebration of local decor, fashion, jewellery, gifts, food, wine and so much more, with this summer’s Cape Town event based at Blaauwklippen Vineyards between Stellenbosch and Somerset West from 30 October to 4 November.

KAMERS/Makers will not only be promoting local creativity and entrepreneurship but has partnered with Bluewater Africa and Consol Glass to provide glass bottles and pure drinking water to keep visitors hydrated, without the need for single-use plastic water bottles, leading the way in sustainable event management and ensuring our environment is placed first.

Every visitor will receive a Consol Curvy glass bottle to refill with purified drinking water at the Bluewater mobile water stations.

Three Bluewater Trailers will dispense water, free of contaminants that may impact taste and health. Bluewater’s unique technology, which is utilized by the company’s hero product, the compact Pro water purifier, harnesses a patented second-generation reverse osmosis process called SuperiorOsmosis™.

The Bluewater Pro can generate 7000 liters of pure water every day even from non-potable sources, including normally tough-to-purify brackish water or rain water.

Bluewater water-cleansing technology and solutions not only generate water as pure as nature intended but also do it at point of use, in a home or commercial kitchen, in hotels, in safari lodges, winery tasting rooms and at large-scale events, obviating the need to transport plastic bottles of water from one part of the country to another.

“While enjoying the hand-picked local creativity, visitors to KAMERS/Makers will have the opportunity to try Bluewater first hand from one of our three Bluewater Trailers,” says James Steere, Cape Town-based Executive Director of Bluewater Africa.

He said Bluewater had been brought in by the organisers as part of its vision to remove all single-use plastic from the event.

Consol Glass Brand Manager, Marlene Scott, said of the partnership:

“We’re thrilled to be a part of this great initiative and it provides Consol Glass with an opportunity to showcase the benefits of using glass. We know that the best things come in glass, and that glass is made of all-natural minerals and is completely recyclable.”

“Consol Glass and Bluewater share the same objective, to reduce single-use plastic, an ambition we successfully delivered on during the partnership with the Volvo Ocean Race stopover in Cape Town last year, where together we helped prevent the use of up to 500 000 thousand standard plastic water bottles,” she said.

Bluewater, which has its international head office in Sweden, a country renowned for its clean environments, is now marketing its water purifiers in South Africa. Bluewater purifiers capture the quality and purity of nature by removing practically all known contaminants found increasingly in drinking water, whether lead, microscopic plastic particles, chemicals or viruses.

“Bluewater has put sustainability and removing single-use plastics, especially bottles, at the heart of its business mission and we are honored to showcase our solutions at KAMERS/Makers to demonstrate how we can assist event organisers make sustainability a priority, for the wellbeing of the planet and future generations,” said James Steere.
