Look Inside: Club Kloof

Before they hit the restaurant scene, Shayne was a private chef, and Michael was a creative director. They both had a passion for food and eating with friends, which led to their first venture, Our Local. They’re taking Kloof Street by storm with Club Kloof, a spot inspired by their love of Italy and Mediterranean vibes.

Club Kloof is nestled in a restored heritage building and has three different areas to enjoy. Chill on the front stoep for some morning coffee and pastries, or soak up the sun during lunchtime. The main dining area and bar have a vintage feel with bold scarlet hues and crisp white tablecloths. And don’t forget to check out the hidden bar in the back courtyard for some refreshing Spritzes!

The menu at Club Kloof is all about familiar dishes with a playful twist. They’ve teamed up with Motherdough to perfect their sourdough game, and their menu is perfect for sharing – no more food envy here! There’s something for everyone, from pizzettes to salads, fillets, prawns, and sweet treats.

Some standout dishes include the daily Pizza in Teglia, topped with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and the heirloom tomato and goat’s cheese salad with mint and white balsamic dressing. Don’t forget to try the pork fennel stuffed arancini or the mouthwatering Maritozzo for dessert – a bun filled with mascarpone and sprinkled with pistachio praline.

The Club Kloof team knew they wanted to make a bold statement regarding the space itself. They took inspiration from David Hicks’ vibrant colours and the mix of antique and modern furnishings. With the help of Tiziana Giardini and Ilana Swanepoel, they created a stunning interior with red walls, mirrors, neon lighting, and classic white tablecloths. The exterior is minimalistic with an all-white look, while the back courtyard pops with a burst of yellow, reminiscent of hidden streets in Italian seaside towns.
