On Sunday, I had the privilege of attending the ve On Sunday, I had the privilege of attending the vernisage of *‘Enfold: Unearthing Her Layers’*, a solo exhibition by Christine Jacobs at the beautiful Cavalli Estate. Christine’s collection is deeply inspired by her personal connection to the natural landscape and her role as both an artist and mother. Through her work, she explores themes of nurturance and interconnectedness, reflecting on the way humans and the natural world support, shape, and sustain one another. Drawing on memories of her family home in Wolseley, where her children were immersed in the richness of the natural world, Christine’s pieces invite viewers to consider the delicate balance between our existence and the landscapes that host us. Her work captures the softness of the earth’s layers while reminding us of their strength and resilience. It was a truly moving experience to witness this body of work, where art becomes a dialogue with nature, and the textures of the landscape unfold in layers of paint and meaning. Christine’s ability to blend familial warmth with the raw beauty of the environment is a testament to her thoughtful and emotive approach to art. If you have the opportunity, this exhibition is well worth a visit to experience the stories held within each piece. #visitstellenbosch #art #nature #CavalliGallery

There is no greater man than the man that can acknowledge the woman standing right next to him. #ThankYou #BreakingBread @lanel_smith
I recently visited an exhibition at @oude_leeskame I recently visited an exhibition at @oude_leeskamer that beautifully explored the intimacy of books through the artist @ernst.vanderwal lens. His marble pieces invite us to engage with the tactile nature of reading, challenging our understanding of how we interact with text. As the artist reflects, these works prompt us to consider our fleeting existence against the timelessness of the medium. It was a profound experience, reminding me of the deep connections we forge with the stories we hold dear. #ArtExhibition #OudeLeeskamer #BookArt

At my desk but my mind and soul is here. At my desk but my mind and soul is here.
As @jan_franschhoek opens its doors again, I can’t help but reflect on the unforgettable meal I had there last season. Every dish felt like a journey through South Africa’s rich culinary heritage, with a modern twist. Of course, the JAN White 2023, a staple in our own wine collection, was the ideal pairing throughout the evening. This blend, with its hints of mandarin, apricot, and subtle oak spice, perfectly complemented each course. It’s no wonder it recently scored 93 points in the Prescient Cape White Blend Report. I can’t wait to see what this season holds! To @janhendrikvanderwesthuizen @armandridgard and the team, all the best with season!

Be sure to book these tickets soon to avoid disappointment. “When we created EARTHBOX, the intention was always to make it a temporary space; a fleeting moment during which you could explore and experience the world underground. A rare glimpse into a world seldom seen. As we’ve moved through the winter and weighed up the decisions ahead, our reflections keep on bringing us back to our original intention – life is cyclical and endings are as essential a part of life on earth as beginnings. So, we have decided to close EARTHBOX. Our last day will be 1st September 2024 as our cycle comes to an end. Don’t miss your last chance to experience EARTHBOX and become part of our final memories.”
