Love Islands Chris Hughes | TOPMAN Campaign

Topman have collaborated with Love Island’s Chris Hughes to raise awareness

around depression in men and their tendency to bottle things up

Creating a cheeky campaign with a bottle of water “now on sale” infused with Chris’ tears Topman teased the campaign to readers. A campaign that now vows to donate about R40 per pair of briefs sold in their stores as part of World Mental Health day,October 10th.

Topman have created this drive because according to Mental health charity CALM (campaign against living miserably) in Britain suicide is the main cause of death for men under 45, with 75% of all suicides being male.

It’s ludicrous that men bottle up their feelings every single day.

And ludicrous that suicide is the single biggest killer of young men in the UK. We live in a culture that encourages men to ‘man up’ and bottle things up.

That’s why Topman have teamed up with CALM to show it’s ok for men to open up instead. #Dontbottleitup

When you put this stat alongside a new finding that says 84% of men keep their emotions to themselves, it’s not very surprising.

TOPMAN states that they didn’t just use Chris for this shoot because he looks good in a pair of boxers.

On this year’s Love Island he opened up on camera in front of millions of viewers about dealing with anxiety himself, showing that behind a smiling façade the condition can affect anyone, anywhere, at anytime.

Topman caught up with the new face of CALM to openly talk about his battle with anxiety and how he first sought help, as well as how he deals with it on a day-to-day basis.

In an emotionally paced video with vocals by taunting Sam Smith goes through the (e)motions of the #DontBottleitup Campaign
