I recently stayed in the newest hospitality addition to the Cape’s, De Waterkant village. The Mirage hotel and apartments are part of the corporate hotelier group The Capital Hotel Group.
This niche property offers a mixed use building with 65 apart-rooms, three restaurants and a glorious sky scrapping bar. Self catering studio styled rooms that offer centrally located business accommodation without the bustle that is the inner city streets. God forbid you have to go close a deal with dark circles and a pair of tote bags under your eyes.
All the rooms host high speed complimentary WiFi, Spacious suite style design, nespresso machines and a few self catering items should you wish to book the property on an “extended(long) stay” basis.
The room I stayed in had the most picturesque views of the city and Table Mountain, a lounge area as well as a washer and dryer-yes all in the room, and I wasn’t sleeping in the bathroom, the rooms have been smartly designed to allow for space and relaxation. I must say that with the beauty that surrounded my room, I did miss a deep soaking bath. However how many corporate-types have time to bath so I couldn’t really complain-this isn’t romance in Robertson.
A quick walk through the halls, as you do, when snooping. There are beautiful monochrome artworks on the walls, and a further wall laden with a graffiti stylized piece which creates a casual chic environment for their on-site snooker and Gin bar.I imagine this to be on the first floor should you wish to book. I headed out in the evenings and didn’t make use of this innovative addition.
The Mirage is situated moments away from the corporate city centre one can easily hop on a bus or flag down a taxi, even uber and within moments you’re in the office ready for your meeting or lunch with friends. Tired, had a long day but still have to get that one last contract signed this luxe hotel is bedded on the steak franschise Cattle Baron which depending on the size of your room (there are 3 bedroom apartments on offer) you can have your discreet meeting in your room and have dinner delivered.
If you’re looking to impress a client why not have them meet you on the 15th floor, The Vue, poolside bar offers the most panoramic view of the city. Think Lion’s head to the left and the Waterfront filled with yachts to your right. In the summer, I imagine this view best enjoyed in the roof top pool with a glass of Moet in hand.
Breakfast is also served at The Vue, I’m never one to eat breakfast in hotels, I am little too “hipster” in that sense but what I saw on offer was great, a full cold continental and a hot offering of eggs and things all for R180.00 great for a business breakfast away from the grunge of my bearded friends downstairs at Origin coffee roasters.
