A panoramic view of the Hout bay harbor , a fresh sea breeze with a slight chill in the air, surrounded by beautiful people and bottomless glasses of delightfully demure Graham Beck Brut Rose. Thursdays don’t get better than that! A perfect setting to be served sultry cauliflower soup, sustainable Angel fish and a smorgasbord of desserts to suit every palate on the luxe terrace of Poseidon Guest House.
“Im Claire Allen, #theFoodieInLove” and just like that we were made to feel that we were 20 of this Masterchef’s closest friends just hanging around whilst she whipped together a preview of her offering later this week at the Good Food & Wine Show. With so much going on I honestly can not figure out how this red lipped beauty manages to keep her wits let alone her infectious smile and bubbly personality. Claire is not only a food personality, youtube sensation or matchmaker(watch her channel-you’ll understand why) she’s clearly an ambassador -as all of us should be- for suitability and respect of produce.
With a South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative represenitive giving our lunch the stamp of approval it was underway with a perfectly timed “cup o’ soup” casual enough to bring the comfort of home to slowly menacing rain clouds yet still intriguing that left guests asking for bowls of the blanc veloute.
In true style, we moved to another venue for mains-sadly not by choice. The sinister skies had other plans and swimmingly moved us inside and onto the delicate angel fish with butter fried gnocchi, the most alluring avocado puree and a smoked bisque personally pored by the chef, 20 times over. Who I must add cooked all three courses dressed in a tank, silk pleated skirt and bootie heels-have you, ever. I cant wait to see what she dons at the GFWS chefs thearte, for over 250 people I imagine she’ll be changing the Hive Fashion essemble for crisp chef’s whites.
Claire Allen is scheduled to showcase chef’s open thearte menu in a few time slots this weekend in her personal capacity as #theFoodieInLove as well as the complimentary partner to “Short chef | Skinny chef” Claire being the latter-goodness knows how with all the lush food. Must be Langaro or something! There are also a number of other international and local foodie favorites. See the time slots and scheduling here: FoodisLove
