Beat the Winter Gloom

Romance in Roberston 30

Winter is coming, and that means that our mornings are slowly becoming colder, the evenings a lot darker, earlier, and, of course, colds, flu and allergies tend to flare up. This can result in a lot of confusion given the current COVID-19 pandemic, which means that avoiding the sniffles becomes a priority.

Given everything going on now, it may be worth your while to invest in an air conditioner that saves on energy costs while properly heating your home and purifying the air to prevent colds and flu.

It is not all doom and gloom, though. There are some things that you can look forward to this winter.

The fresh cool breeze while exercising

With the lockdown restrictions being lifted and more lenience has been given for exercise, we can look forward to a morning run in the fresh winter air.

Research has found that training in winter burns more calories than training during the warmer months. This is because your body uses more energy to heat up its core, so bring on the cardio and start working on your summer body.

But remember, moving from extreme heat to extreme cold is one of the biggest causes of colds.

Comfort food

Lockdown has given us the time to work on our culinary skills and become the ultimate chef. Now that it’s a bit colder, we can start cooking our all-time favourite comfort foods to keep us warm. You can even be adventurous and try out that recipe you’ve been meaning to try but haven’t had the time.

Let’s be honest; there’s nothing better than a juicy oxtail stew with fresh dumplings to warm you up on a chilly day or a delicious traditional beef goulash with freshly baked bread to curl up with after a long day.

Snuggle up with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate

It is time to start reading those books on your bookshelf and when you are done, why not compile a new reading list to satisfy your bookworm’s craving. A Van Ryn’s spiked Hot Chocolate will definitely set the mood.

If you are not too keen on reading, there’s always a binge-worthy series you can catch up on that will be sure to keep you busy this season.

So, what are you waiting for?
