The team who launched celebrated and much loved La Mouette Restaurant in Sea Point, are to part ways after an incredible 10 years of working together.

Chef and wife team, Henry and Mari Vigar will be moving to their Upper Bloem Restaurant in Green Point full time, while Gerrit Bruwer, longstanding business partner and friend will continue to run La Mouette Restaurant as the sole proprietor effective June 2020 onward.

La Mouette Celebrates 10 Years.

The timing is unfortunate in what was planned as a festive 10-year celebration and handover during the months of April and May, so the team have therefore put the festivities on ice (for now) due to COVID19.

The decision to change ownership of La Mouette was not made lightly and has been a year in the making with the end of lease and 10-year business partnership having concluded at the end of May.

Henry and Mari are sad to say goodbye to La Mouette after 10 years but at the same time, they know that Gerrit and his loyal, confident team are set for an incredible new adventure in food, service and hospitality.

Chef Neill Anthony

La Mouette is pleased to announce the appointment of private chef Neill Anthony as the restaurant’s new culinary advisor.

Neill Anthony spent ten years in Europe, honing his skills in the professional kitchens of Gordon Ramsay, Alyn Williams, Jérôme Henry, and Marcus Wareing before returning to the Mother City in 2010. As a private chef, his clients include Madonna, Victoria Beckham, Elton John, and U2. His TV show “Private Chef” is syndicated by the Food Channel to 160 countries, and its third season premiered in late 2018 on DStv.

Neill Anthony says of his appointment: “The classic yet produce-driven modern European style of La Mouette is a great inspiration to me. As a team, we will strive to create an incredible dining experience for our local and international guests. With a new beginning, we will face new challenges head-on and look forward to cooking some fantastic food”.
