The Baily, located in the heart of Cape Town’s Bree Street, is a partnership between Liam Tomlin and the founders of Tintswalo Lodges.
The 1862 building has classic lines, original, textured walls, stairs, and high ceilings, as well as gorgeous flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows, and amazing bathrooms. Each of the three levels has exquisite and comfortable seats in sumptuous, jewel-toned textiles, adjacent to spectacular marble-topped, long bar counters.
The Bailey’s art is a prominent feature, displaying a diverse collection of unique works in many media by local artists. The Bailey is the permanent home of remarkable paintings by the late Paul Du Toit, which are displayed in a special dining area dedicated after him on the second level of the Brasserie.
Café Bailey has a bakery on the ground floor offering cakes, macarons, pastries, and fresh juices. All-day English or Irish breakfast, brunch, light lunch, and High Tea are available.
The traditional French-style Brasserie on the second level is available for lunch and supper reservations and serves a menu of classic continental meals and fine wines. The maître d’ oversees service, and his crew adds a touch of hospitality theatre to a modern dining experience.
The Old Bailey Whiskey Bar on level three, with its rooftop terrace, is reminiscent of top-tier members’ clubs and bars in New York and London. Chic table service offers a comprehensive whiskey selection, premium wines, and cocktails served in a classy atmosphere that invites visitors to relax and socialize in a like-minded group.
